Field Outreach Program

PDC's comprehensive field outreach assists members across the state with training and technical assistance tailored to a community's unique needs. Our field outreach program visits and/or consults with hundreds of communities each year, giving them a broad menu of tools, training and workshops to revitalize their downtown. Participants in the Pennsylvania Main Street Program are trained throughout their five-year state funding cycle. PDC's field training includes, but is not limited to:

Elm Street Managers Handbook

This publication includes a thorough overview of the basics of the Elm Street program, planning and implementation of the Elm Street five point approach, various resources for participating communities, and more.

Annual Conference

The PDC conference is the premier event in the Commonwealth for new and experienced practitioners and volunteers to attend training, gather information, network with their peers and be recognized for their achievements. This three-day gathering offers varied session topics, off-site tours and fun social events and draws attendees from across the state. PDC's coveted Townie Awards are given out each year at the conference. The schedule for this year's conference can be found in the Conference section of the website.

Educational Workshops

Regional workshops for the professional development of members are offered throughout the year. PDC strives to keep these seminars an affordable member benefit. Non-members are welcome to attend for a higher fee. Return to our Home page to see PDC's upcoming schedule of events.

Advocacy

PDC analyzes and argues for the varied legislative, administrative and budgetary concerns of downtowns. Our advocacy committee is comprised of practitioners from around the Commonwealth who represent the diversity of community found in our members.
